Sunday Captain Will Archer Won the toss on a beautiful summers day at Reed hoping his youthful bowling attack could exploit the damp and worn pitch to make some early inroads into the Blues top order.

George Wood (7-0-1-36) opened from the bottom end while the exciting Oliver Kimsey (6-0-1-20) took the new ball from the Pavillion end. Henlow Started well however, and despite inside info from agent Saunders, Captain Craig Tennant (31) capitalised on some rusty bowling from the returning George. After a poor start Reed dragged back some control as Kimsey continued to plug away with his outswing and George began to find his length.

Matthew Jackson (4-0-0-10) Came on down the Hill and bowled economically, troubling the opening pair with some useful inswing bowling. From the other end frontline offspinner Chris Cooper (6-2-1-21) looked to use his Flight and deception to break the ominous stand. The partnership between Tennant and Biggs grew to 49 before Bunker, running 10 yards to his right at point, Plucked the ball out of the air one handed from Tennants mistimed cut shot to give Chris his first wicket. Henlow Tried to Consolidate but regular wickets continued to fall, Stan Cooper (4-0-1-17) picked up Biggs, The Catch well held at point by Isaac Skeggs. Rhodri (3-0-1-21) Pinned Canagasabey infront , with his appeal being heard from Royston. Despite his reluctantcy to bowl, Archer (4-0-2-11) then had Gummatrta and Thomspon caught off similar balls. The score reading 120 when the 5th wicket fell.

The task of finishing off the Henlow innings was given to Kimsey, Skeggs (6-0-1-26) and Wood, with all 3 picking up wickets in their comeback spells. Kimsey had his first senior wicket when Moore chipped one to Archer at mid off. Then after some strong batting from Raggett and Sykes Skeggs had the latter clean bowled for his first adult wicket. George finished off the wickets bowling Raggett to leave Henlow 175-8 off their 40 overs.

After a well appreciated tea, Hughes (53) and Cooper (20) opened in what proved to be a difficult chase on an ever wearing track. They showed great application trusting their defence against the solid opening seamers, and played gloriously through the offside when the chance presented. They shared a stand of 41 for the first wicket before Cooper was brilliantly caught and bowled by Thompson. Desperate for a bat, captain Archer (21) walked out at 3, and started to pick up where Cooper left off. Scampering every run that was out there with the lightening quick Hughes, Who sprinted to a 50. At 101-1 Reed looked set to cruise the chase but Raggett struck having Hughes caught attempting an uncharacteristic Aerial drive. Dave Saunders (38*) then strode to the wicket and the tempo of the innings changed drastically. Boundaries became the order of the day with Saunders striking 5 and Archer 2 before the latter was caught at midwicket attempting to muscle one over the top. Bunker (6) joined Dave but struggled before being caught off the returning Tompkins with Reed still needing 21. When Young Ethan fox (4*) took his guard the field was tight not expecting the strong shot he played over midwicket to get off the mark. Dave marshalled the chase beautifully striking some lusty blows back over the bowler and finely cutting through third man. with 2 balls required Reed needed 3. Dave struck one to mid off, one was called. The fielder, desperate to run out the in batter, shyed at the stumps and missed allowing Saunders to take a rare 2. A tie was the best Henlow could manage with 1 needed off the last but it was Reed who would take the spoils with Dave bringing it home to give the Sunday side their first win of the season.
