On Sunday, Reed hosted St Margaretsbury in the second round of the National Village Cup at The Green.
Bowling first, Reed started brightly with Jack Tidey striking in his first over removing Charlie Galligan after a sharp catch by Robert Lankester at second slip.
Julien Fynn soon got in on the act taking the wicket of Daniel McMahon after a loose drive found the grateful hands of William Heslam who managed to cling on to leave the visitors in trouble at 11-2.
What followed can only be described as a procession. The beautifully mulleted Tidey, with a strong breeze behind him was like a steam engine chugging up the hill, running through the visitors batting line up. Jocelyn (0), Jennings (1), G. Moody (0), Verdin (1), H.Moody (5) and Griffiths (0) were all clean bowled by Tidey who ended with a career best 7.3-2-12-7.
Only Benji Tilbury (18) offered any kind of resistance before he was dismissed by Fynn (8-1-39-3) caught expertly at long on by Oli Johnson as St Margaretsbury were bowled all out for 55 inside 16 overs.
In reply, Reed’s batsmen made light work of chasing down the total.
Kallum Ward set the tone with a 6 in the first over and four 4’s on his way to a run a ball 34 not out, ably supported by William Heslam who chipped in with a classy 19 not out as Reed romped home by 10 wickets in 9.1 overs.
Next up is a trip to Redbourn in Round 3 on 24th May.
